Short explanation

A critical incorrect privilege assignment vulnerability in Docker Hub's account conversion feature allows an authenticated attacker to reassign a personal access token to another user. S0, S1

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to use unchanged personal access tokens to perform unauthorized actions within repositories accessible to the target user. S0, S1

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Audit personal access tokens
  • Review authorization settings

Show the technical text from the sources

An Incorrect Privilege Assignment vulnerability in Docker Hub's account-to-organization conversion feature allowed an authenticated attacker to reassign a personal access token (PAT) they controlled to another Docker Hub user without rotating or revoking the token secret. The unchanged PAT then authenticated to the registry as the recipient and could pull, push, or delete images, within its scopes, in repositories accessible to that user, including organization repositories.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
