Dagu MCP DAG specification read bypass

Short explanation

In Dagu versions prior to 2.11.0, the MCP dagu_read operation calls the DAG specification API directly, bypassing path containment. An authenticated viewer‑role API key can supply an absolute or traversing path to read .yaml/.yml files outside allowed directories (no write/execute). The issue is fixed in version 2.11.0.

Why does it matter?

An attacker with a valid API key can access sensitive configuration or secret files, increasing the risk of information disclosure.

What should be done?

  • Upgrade Dagu to version 2.11.0 or later
  • Follow vendor security advisory
  • Apply least‑privilege principle to API keys
  • Monitor dagu_read calls and block abnormal paths
  • Restrict file system permissions where feasible

Bu açık, izleyici‑rol API anahtarıyla kimliği doğrulanmış bir saldırganın mutlak veya dizin geçişi içeren yol sağlayarak .yaml/.yml dosyalarını dışarıdan okumasına izin verir (S0, S1).

Sorun, Dagu 2.11.0 sürümünde düzeltilmiştir (S0, S1).

CVSS temel skoru 6.5, orta şiddette olarak rapor edilmiştir (S0).

Yama durumu resmi kaynaklarda doğrulanamadı; durum UNKNOWN olarak değerlendirilmiştir (S0).

Show the technical text from the sources

Dagu is a workflow engine with a built-in Web user interface. Prior to version 2.11.0, its MCP  dagu_read  operation with target  dag_spec  invokes the DAG specification API directly, bypassing the HTTP middleware introduced for CVE-2026-33344. The underlying resolver does not restrict resolved paths to configured DAG directories. An authenticated attacker with a viewer-role API key can supply an absolute or traversing path to read  .yaml  or  .yml  files outside those directories that are accessible to the Dagu process. The affected operation does not provide write or execution capability. This issue is fixed in version 2.11.0.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
