Short explanation
An interaction between specific versions of Sourcerer and Articles Anywhere extensions allows for PHP code injection due to an authorization discrepancy [S0]. This vulnerability arises when the extensions are used together in specific combinations and configurations [S0].
This flaw can allow attackers to execute PHP code by bypassing intended authorization boundaries [S0]. Outdated or misconfigured extensions can put critical system components at risk [S0].
What should be done?
- Follow the vendor advisory to apply updates [S0]
- Review plugin configurations and content trigger settings [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources
Articles Anywhere eklentisinin Sourcerer'dan önce işlem yapması ve ayarların uygun olmaması yetki uyuşmazlığına neden olur [S0].
Güvenlik açığı, makaleyi sağlayan kodun yetkisi ile onun çalıştırılıp çalıştırılmayacağını belirleyen yetki arasındaki boşluktan kaynaklanır [S0].
Show the technical text from the sources
Joomla Extension - regularlabs.com - PHP code injection vector in Sourcerer extension < 17.0.1 when used with Articles Anywhere extension < 20.1.1 - Sourcerer can restrict PHP in articles according to article-author trust; the exact creator and last-editor rule varies by release. Articles Anywhere can insert the text or full layout of one article into another. In the affected combination, when Articles Anywhere processes an inclusion before Sourcerer and Force Content Triggers is off, the included article's Sourcerer code can be evaluated using the enclosing article's trusted identity rather than the included article's own identity. The resulting gap is between the authority of the article supplying the code and the authority used to decide whether to run it. Ordinary Articles Anywhere output is not itself the issue.
