Short explanation
CVE-2026-101339 has been identified in NLnet Labs NSD versions 4.10.0 through 4.15.3, where a specially crafted HIP resource record can overwrite the stack with up to 191 bytes of attacker-controlled data [S0].
This vulnerability can allow attackers to compromise the stack memory and lead to high-impact security breaches [S0].
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories to review updates [S0].
- Audit zone file provisioning processes [S0].
Chain of evidence and sources
NLnet Labs NSD 4.10.0 ile 4.15.3 sürümleri arasındaki ürünler CVE-2026-101339 açısından etkilidir.
Güvenlik açığı, stack üzerine 191 bayta kadar veri yazılmasına sebep olabilmektedir.
Show the technical text from the sources
A HIP resource record that fills the RDATA near or at is limit, and has another dname RDATA field (a HIP Rendezvous server) can overwrite the stack with up to 191 bytes of attacker controlled data. Zone files which are written out by NSD itself, such as for zones for which the NSD instance is secondary, will not be formatted like this. The zone file must be fed to NSD directly, (but it could come, for example, from an operator controlled provisioning system).
