Short explanation

A memory leak vulnerability exists in the NGINX JavaScript module where xml.parse() fails and leaks a libxml2 parser context.

Why does it matter?

Unauthenticated remote attackers can send malformed XML requests to cause service disruption in NGINX worker processes.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories
  • Update affected NGINX JavaScript versions
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Saldırganlar hatalı biçimlendirilmiş XML ile NGINX işçi süreçlerinde hizmet kesintisine neden olabilir.

Başarısız xml.parse() çağrısı libxml2 ayrıştırıcı bağlamının sızmasına yol açar.

Show the technical text from the sources

Description NGINX JavaScript (njs) has a vulnerability where the built-in njs engine leaks a libxml2 parser context when xml.parse() fails. The failure path did not register cleanup and the context was not released for the lifetime of the process. An unauthenticated attacker may send requests with malformed XML and can cause unbounded memory growth in long-lived NGINX worker processes. Impact This vulnerability may allow remote attackers to send requests that trigger repeated parsing of malformed XML and may lead to NGINX worker termination or denial of service. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issue only.  Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
