Short explanation
A critical privilege escalation vulnerability in the Multicluster Engine for Kubernetes ClusterCurator controller allows namespace-scoped administrators to gain cluster-wide administrative authority through unintended token minting. CVSS score is 9.1. Patch status is UNKNOWN. No fixed version is available in public records.
This vulnerability allows an administrator with limited namespace access to gain full cluster control, posing a severe threat to cluster security. The high CVSS score and privilege escalation nature make it a critical risk for Kubernetes environments.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories for the Multicluster Engine for Kubernetes to determine the correct version and patch application.
- No fixed version is publicly available; remediation must be based on vendor guidance.
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources
CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H vektörü, yüksek etki ve yetki yükseltme potansiyelini gösterir.
Show the technical text from the sources
A flaw was found in the Multicluster Engine for Kubernetes ClusterCurator controller. A tenant administrator with namespace-scoped privileges can exploit this vulnerability by creating a namespaced ClusterCurator. This action inadvertently grants the tenant administrator the ability to mint a token for a ServiceAccount with cluster-wide administrative authority. This leads to a privilege escalation, allowing the tenant administrator to gain full control over the cluster.
