Short explanation

An out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in GStreamer's libgstcodecparsers library within the gst_h266_parser_parse_dci function. Processing a specially crafted H.266 bitstream may cause memory corruption or a crash.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can compromise the memory integrity of third-party applications using the library API and lead to service disruption.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories.

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in GStreamer's H.266 codec parser library (libgstcodecparsers). An out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in the DCI parsing function, where a reserved field value is incorrectly accepted, causing the parser to write beyond the bounds of an internal structure. An attacker could exploit this by providing a specially crafted H.266 bitstream to a third-party application that uses this library API, potentially causing a crash or memory corruption. No standard GStreamer pipeline element currently invokes the affected code path.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
