Short explanation

The Easy Waveform Player plugin (version <= 1.2.2) suffers from authenticated stored XSS via shortcode_easywaveformplayer(). Attackers with Contributor-level access can inject and execute scripts. Patch status is UNKNOWN. No fixed version is known.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary scripts on user-accessed pages, potentially leading to session hijacking and data theft. It affects WordPress plugins with Contributor-level access privileges. Patch status is UNKNOWN, so remediation depends on vendor advisories.

What should be done?

  • Update to a version beyond 1.2.2 if available; otherwise, disable the plugin or apply vendor-specific mitigation.
Note on uncertainty

The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.

Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

The Easy Waveform Player plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the shortcode_easywaveformplayer() function in all versions up to, and including, 1.2.2 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
