Short explanation

CVE-2024-2323 in multiple WSO2 products stems from the RemoteUserStoreManagerService failing to sufficiently validate password change attempts when password history validation is enabled. This flaw allows attackers to perform brute-force attacks against user accounts, leading to account impersonation.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to guess user passwords and achieve account impersonation. Simpler passwords increase the likelihood of compromise, and the patch status cannot be reliably concluded from reviewed official sources.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and security updates from WSO2
  • Enforce stronger password complexity policies
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

CVE-2024-2323 zafiyeti, RemoteUserStoreManagerService bileşeninin şifre geçmişi doğrulama özelliği etkinken şifre değiştirme denemelerini yeterince doğrulamamasından kaynaklanır.

Zafiyetin istismarı, saldırganın kaba kuvvet yoluyla bir kullanıcının şifresini keşfetmesine ve hesap taklidi yapmasına olanak tanır.

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu UNconfirmed/bilinmiyor olarak değerlendirilmiştir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The RemoteUserStoreManagerService does not sufficiently validate password change attempts when the password history validation feature is enabled. This oversight allows an attacker to repeatedly attempt password guesses for a user account without being adequately restricted. Exploiting this vulnerability enables an attacker to discover a user's password through brute force, leading to account impersonation. The success rate of such an attack is influenced by the complexity of the targeted user's password, with simpler passwords increasing the likelihood of compromise.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
